At the Hellmans/Facebook Feeding America Charity Event on Thursday aftenoon, country star Billy Ray Cyrus responded to the controversy surrounding daughter Miley’s controversial pole-dancing routine at the Teen Choice Awards earlier this month. While performing her hit song, “Party In The USA” at the Aug. 10 event, the 16-year-old Disney star gyrated feverishly and danced next to a metal pole attached to the top of an ice cream cart. Her seductive dance moves drew criticisms across the Web.

When asked about the controversy, Billy Ray replied: “You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people. She loves singing [and] songwriting.” he added. “I always tell her to love what you’re doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion,”

Forget Justin Gaston and Nick Jonas — Miley Cyrus has a new man. An eyewitness caught the teen dream indulging in a steamy makeout session with her “Last Song” co-star Liam Hemsworth at Nashville International Airport on Wednesday; Cyrus was dropping off her new beau at departures. Tellingly, the 16-year-old has mentioned the hunky Australian in tweets every day for the past week. Cutie faced Miley Cyrus has a lot to celebrate this week: Her new single “Party in the U.S.A.” made a stellar debut at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the controversy over her pole dance at last week’s Teen Choice Awards appears to have blown over. But perhaps her greatest joy this week comes from her enthusiasm for the animal kingdom, as her cat gave birth to kittens. Cyrus celebrated via Twitter late last night. “Look what GOD brought me,” she tweeted. “My cat Nala had kitties!!!” She even posted an adorable photo of her with one of her newborn pals.

In the first two weeks of its commercial release to mainstream radio, seventy-eight stations added the song to their play list thus making it the most added song for those weeks.[13] This led to its first appearance on U.S. airplay charts, debuting at forty-three in the Hot 100 Airplay chart[14] and at forty on Pop Songs[15] from Billboard issue dated August 22, 2009.
