What do Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Jon Stewart, Buddy Valastro, Nigel Barker and Tiffani Thiessen all have in common? They are all wish granters, celebrating World Wish Day® 2012. On April 29 1980, one body’s wish inspired the creation of Make-A-Wish® and since that day, hundreds of thousands of wishes have been granted across the world.
Miley Cyrus is the number one requested female celebrity wish granter. She has granted over 150 wishes and she talks about why she why she continues to grant wishes. She said:
It’s been amazing you know, through time, through my show, and just by being on tours and going to different places and getting to meet 150 kids has just been amazing cause I get to meet so many people, and I don’t think I’ve probably ever forgotten one of these kids. Just cause the way that they make you feel, you’re doing something for them but just the way that they’re so thankful and the way that you can touch some of their lives. It means so much to you and it makes you wanna keep doing it and keep meeting more kids and it doesn’t take long, but it changes everything that they feel and everything that they’ve been going through and it really does help them get better. For that moment, their family, it’s not only the child but the way that you see their parents react and their siblings that have gone through this with them and just wanna do anything to make them smile and the fact that you can be that one thing that can make them happy with all the pain and everything that they’d had to go through, not only them but their family too, it means so much. It’s been 150 kids, and I hope I can keep doing this for as long as people make me one of their wishes.
