Get out your glow sticks ya’ll because Miley Cyrus is going techno for her embarrassingly titled fourth album I Can’t Be Tamed. The Queen of Disney announced the news of her musical makeover during a new interview with MTV to promote her soppy rom-com The Last Song.

“My new record has more of a techno vibe on some stuff. It’s fun,” she said. “You know, I just want to kind of do all different types of music, same as I do with movies. I never want to get stuck in a rut and just do one thing.”

“The album is a little different. It’s kind of poppier, but then it still has an edge. All of my music kind of has to. I think it’s really fun. It’s definitely a good summer CD. It’s good to blast in your car.” source

When Miley says “techno” I’m sure she means something along the lines of Kelly Clarkson’s dancey “If I Can’t Have You” or Selena Gomez’s “Naturally”, rather than some hardcore rave music, and as a manufactured Disney artist I didn’t expect anything less than Miley’s label getting her to record whatever is the hot genre of the moment. Tween pop/rock was successful back in the day with Ashlee Simpson and Hilary Duff, but now it’s time to move on.

At least if this album is terrible we can take comfort in the fact that Miley said that this will be her last pop album, and in the future she’ll actually try and record music she actually likes.

I Can’t Be Tamed is currently due out this June.
